Invest with a capital guarantee and take a view on the markets

BCEE has been involved in the structured products market since 1995, and has made itself one of the major international players in this niche market.

The outstanding of the EMTN (Euro Medium Term Note) programme at the end of July 2007 amounted to USD 6.4 bn and was distributed among an extremely demanding international institutional clientele, for whom BCEE’s status (credit rating AA+/Aaa) is a fundamental factor in their decision making criteria.

BCEE’s structured products are in EMTN bond format, which enables the bank to respond as quickly as possible, and in the best possible way, to the expectations of informed investors.

Structured products enable an investor to get a higher expected return than the classic money market, provided he chooses the right strategy. When you take a risk on a market scenario, it is important not to take a risk on the guarantor of the transaction, namely the issuer of the product.

When products are said to be “capital protected”, this means (unless otherwise stated) that the capital is guaranteed at maturity and only at maturity.

Equity linked products are the most popular structures at the moment. These products allow to gain exposure to the equity markets and to outperform bonds and the money market. The aim of equity-linked products is medium-term capital growth by taking “calculated and limited” exposure on the equity market.
